Independent retailers in Bath, North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol have been granted additional time to secure vital security funding.

The funding, which was initially set to close at the end of March, has been extended until the end of September, providing a critical lifeline for businesses grappling with the rising challenge of shoplifting.

Under the extended scheme, eligible businesses can now access grants of up to £4,000, with a 20% match funding requirement.

To qualify for this funding, businesses must meet the following criteria:
  • An independent retail shop significantly affected by shoplifting.
  • Located in Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire or Bristol.
  • Able to provide a 20% match funding contribution to your item(s) you are seeking funding for.
The scheme cannot fund pre-existing items, meaning items that have already been purchased and implemented prior to funding being agreed are ineligible for funding. Eligible businesses can utilise the funding towards the purchase of various security equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Body-worn cameras
  • CCTV systems
  • In-store anti-theft measures
You can can find more details and apply for the extended funding by visiting the Safer Shops West website.
