Electrical Safety First has announced the appointment of Lesley Rudd as its new chief executive.
Ms Rudd, who currently heads up the Sustainable Energy Association and has worked for more than 30 years in the energy sector, will take up the position in February 2020. She succeeds Phil Buckle, who retired from the consumer protection charity last month.
Commenting on the appointment, Alison Parkes, chair of Electrical Safety First, said: “Lesley’s track record and commercial background, together with her experience of working with governments and regulators to shape energy policy, has given her a depth of understanding and focus on establishing practical policy solutions. We believe she is the ideal person to take the charity forward to the next stage of its development.”
Ms Rudd, who is said to have developed a passion for safety while working in the oil and gas industry, added: “It was during this time that I worked closely with other key members of the sector to ensure that lessons were learnt from safety incidents and utilised effectively. Becoming chief executive of Electrical Safety First allows me to use my skills to full effect in an area that I am passionate about and I look forward greatly to joining the team early next year.”
